Having had extensive experience performing and teaching all the contemporary and classical vocal styles, I am able to fulfil any of your singing needs. Erika Turner
THIS IS ME
I have been singing and teaching for many years, starting off as a Classical Singer which was my focus while I was completing my B. Ed-Mus. As well as presenting many Classical Recitals, I also pursued my passion for Musical Theatre. During this time, I was teaching a significant number of secondary school students who were showing great interest in contemporary vocal styles. In answer to this, I commenced studying contemporary vocal production and absolutely loved it. As my journey progressed, becoming even more drawn to contemporary voice and music theatre, I decided that I had to pursue it seriously. I then completed a Musical Theatre course at the National Theatre in St Kilda and by the time I was completing my graduation showcase performance, “Use What You’ve Got”, I was already starting rehearsals for “Topol’s Fiddler on the Roof” at the Regent Theatre, Melbourne. Following on from this were corporate gigs, cabarets, singing in a Jazz Band, doing keyboards and vocals in a Covers Band, a few more shows, VCE assessing, adjudicating eisteddfodau, conducting masterclasses and teaching.
Not only will you be given solid technical guidance and positive support to ensure that you perform at your best, but you will leave lessons feeling uplifted and satisfied. Singing is "soul-food" and I get as much out of lessons as my students do!
Performance Coaching and Exam Preparation
Improve your vocal technique for all styles of singing (Pop, Musical Theatre, Folk, Jazz, Classical), fine tune your stage presence, hone your interpretive skills and prepare for singing exams (VCE, AMEB, ANZCA). I can help.
I also direct ensembles both large and small and have conducted many Masterclasses specifically for VCE exam students.
Preparing for a Special Performance
Do you want to serenade your partner for a special occasion, deliver your own Cabaret performance, compete in a competition, or improve and strengthen your voice to sing more confidently in your band or vocal ensemble? I've helped students to achieve these goals and I can help you too!
I absolutely loved taking singing lessons from Erika! I had never taken lessons before and have always thought that I’m a terrible singer. But Erika made me feel very comfortable exploring my voice and I could see great progress already from lesson one (testified by my husband as well). Erika listens to your voice and teaches you hands on tips on how to use it the best, while also working methodically to strengthen your voice over time. She puts effort into you, not only during the lessons but before and after as well by sending over practice material. But most importantly she is passionate about your development, which makes you have a lot of fun while also growing in your singing lesson by lesson. Thank you so much Erika!

Student
Erika creates a teaching environment that lets you relax and be yourself. She always makes sure the content of lessons is relevant to you, which in turn then motivates you to work hard at the necessary technical elements of being a singer. Erika always pushes me to improve and try new things. The balance between technical content and working on songs is perfect and that has led me to feel confident in my ability physically, technically and creatively to perform at my best.

Musician - Lead singer and drummer “Best Press”
Erika introduced me to the wonderful world of song, from Musical Theatre to Jazz and a myriad of other styles in between. During my time with her, studying for VCE and tertiary auditions, she was incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. She was the first teacher I had to teach me to act through song and I credit her as an original inspiration to pursue my passion.
